About the Author
Nicolas Ridley has lived and worked in Tokyo, Casablanca, Barcelona, Hong Kong & Paris and now lives in London & Bath where he writes fiction, non-fiction, scripts and stage plays under different names. A prize-winner and Pushcart Prize nominee, Nicolas’s short stories, non-fiction and flash fiction pieces have appeared in a range of anthologies, magazines and literary journals in the UK, Ireland, Canada and the USA.

About the Play

It is the long-awaited annual Christmas prize draw for the Shelf Union Social Club. In a locked committee room, with everything in place for a fair draw, the Chairman, the Treasurer and the Organizer await the beleaguered Mr. Pessel, a non-committee guest witness, to pick a winning ticket. A witty, humorous moral entanglement begins when Mr. Pessel draws a ticket belonging to Mr. Brooker, one of the richest men in the area and not a ticket belonging to someone more worthy of winning the first-prize hamper.

A sea cruise was a life-time dream of Muriel's.

In frail health she could only realise that dream with the help of her lovely carer and travel companion, Emma. For Muriel the tranquillity of the ship-board life and quiet days was all she needed. For Emma, the sunshine filled the time before enjoying the evening party life. But even a trip to paradise must come to an end. Both must return home and the life they left behind. But will it be the same life?

After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man. This particular version of the story is a radio play first performed in 1938.
